Former Aussie women’s captain banned

SYDNEY, May 21: Anissa Tann, Australia’s most-capped female soccer player, has been suspended for two years after failing a drugs test, officials announced on Wednesday.

The 35-year-old tested positive for the banned steroid nandrolone last December but denied taking any prohibited substances.

Tann appealed to the Court of Arbitration for Sport (CAS) but was found guilty and ordered to serve a two-year ban, Soccer Australia announced.

She said she planned to lodge a further appeal against the decision.—Reuters
