Electricity supply to township demanded

By Our Correspondent

KOHAT, May 21: The residents of KDA township have demanded of the government to start power supply to the phase-II so that those who have plots in the area could begin the construction of their homes.

The participants of a function organized by the KDA residents’ society at district council hall on Wednesday evening also regretted that two years back digging was carried out in the area for laying down gas pipelines, but to the day the department had not filled up the pits.

They demanded of the authorities to increase the police staff to check the law and order situation in the area, specially the cases of carjacking, kidnappings and murders.

The residents of the KDA township asked the government to install street lights on the old Indus Road from Gulshanabad to the MP Gate as it posed a security risk to the people.

Of the Wapda they demanded installation of new transformers saying that the old transformers were installed 15 years ago and at present they could not bear the increased burden of the heavy load.

They said that with the construction of a major hospital in KDA, which was not in the original plan of the KDA, and the Al Shifa Eye Trust Hospital the problem would aggravate further in the summer.

The speakers demanded that in line with the orders of the federal government all the eucalyptus trees should be cut down due to which the water table fell by 7 to 9 feet in the area and trees of other varieties should be planted.

They demanded of District Nazim Malik Asad to begin a bus service for KDA as majority of the people could not use taxis to go to the central city.
