Petitioner’s heirs to get Rs10m, SC told

By Our Staff Reporter

ISLAMABAD, May 21: Sindh Additional Advocate-General Suleman Habibullah informed the Supreme Court on Wednesday that Rs10 million would soon be paid to the legal heirs of a deceased petitioner.

The petitioner, Tahir Shaikha (now dead), had approached the apex court, complaining that despite court orders in his favour, he was not being compensated for the land which was acquired by the Sindh Government.

On the last hearing the court had summoned Karachi Nazim-i- Aala and Sindh local government secretary to appear in person.

On Wednesday, the Sindh additional advocate-general informed the SC bench, headed by Chief Justice Shaikh Riaz Ahmad, that Sindh finance department had released an amount of Rs10 million to be paid to the legal heirs of the petitioner in compensation of the land.

He said that the process of getting funds from the Sindh accountant general would take few days.

The local government, he stated, was of the view that the amount should be disbursed to the legal heirs of the petitioner through Sindh High Court where the representative of the department would also be present.

He demanded that petitioner should be asked to furnish before the Supreme Court, an authentic list of the legal heirs of Tahir Shaikha along with their respective shares.

The court asked the petitioner’s counsel to submit the complete list of the heirs and their respective share.
