Three cops gunned down

QUETTA, May 19: A constable went berserk and gunned down three policemen in police headquarters here on Monday.

The accused fled from scene with official weapon after the incident.

Those killed in the shooting have been identified as ASI Chaudhry Ashtiaq Ahmed, Head Constable Mohammad Azam and Constable Mohammad Afzal.

District Quetta City Police Officer Rehmatullah Niazi told Dawn that accused Saeed Ahmed went berserk after exchanging hot words with Head Constable Mohammad Azam who had asked the former to explain why he had remained absent from duty for the last three days.

The accused first shot Mohammad Azam and then fired on ASI Chaudhry Ashtiaq Ahmed and Constable Mohammad Afzal, killing all of them on the spot.

The accused was stated be mentally disturb because of some domestic problems.
