SADIQABAD, May 19: Three children were drowned in minor canals on Sunday in different parts of the district.

Minor Asif and six-year-old daughter of Muneer Ahmad drowned after they fell into the Shams minor canal.

The minor daughter of Bashir slipped into the Malikpur minor canal near Dungli Busti when her mother was busy in washing the clothes. The mother, who jumped into the canal to save her daughter, was rescued by the area people.

SUSPENDED: The Rahimyar Khan EDO has suspended from service the staff of Fatehpur Kamal Girls High School, including the headmistress, on the charge of absence from the duty.

EDO Rana Hazoor conducted a surprise raid at 8am on Monday and found the headmistress, six teachers, a clerk and the subordinate staff absent from duty. The three other employees were taking rest after closing the school gate while students were waiting outside.

Social circles have demanded stern disciplinary action against the school staff and the headmistress.
