Haj officials to be quizzed

By Our Staff Reporter

ISLAMABAD, May 19: The opposition-government deliberations on the Legal Framework Order may have blocked the proceedings of the National Assembly, its standing committees are very much in a functional mode, holding meetings on different national issues.

On Monday, two standing committees on finance and revenue and religious affairs met in which the members of the opposition, including those of the MMA, also participated.

The NA’s standing committee on religious affairs recommended summoning of the officers responsible for mishandling the recent Haj arrangements. The officers, who have to appear before the committee in the next meeting, would be required to give justification for creating a mess during such an auspicious occasion.

Alsyed Abdul Qadir Jamaluddin Al-Gillani presided over the committee meeting.

The meeting took serious note of the difficulties faced by the intending pilgrims during the performance of the Haj. It expressed its heartfelt regret that many applicants were deprived of the opportunity to perform Haj through no fault of their own.
