KARACHI: Investigation bodies to be merged

KARACHI, May 19: Chief Secretary K. B. Rind on Monday constituted a committee to examine a proposal about merging CM’s Inspection Team with Enquiries and Anti-corruption Establishment (E&ACE) and prepare a summery in this regard for submission to the chief minister within the next 10 days.

During a presentation on the E&ACE at his office, he said that since both the bodies had the same nature of jobs, they could be merged to make a single one. The newly formed committee consists of secretary (services), secretary law and chairmen of the E&ACE and CM’s Inspection Team.

The chief secretary expressed his desire to strengthen the E&ACE’s prosecution system.

Mr Rind emphasized the need for improving efficiency of personnel through skill development, refresher courses, etc. and said that the E&ACE officers must be capable to help the district governments run their affairs smoothly.

Earlier, the E&ACE chairman, Brig (r) Mukhtar Ahmad, gave a briefing to the CS about the organizational set up and functioning of the Establishment.—PPI
