MULTAN, May 18: The City of Saints experienced the hottest day of the current season so far on Sunday, with mercury touching 45.5 degrees on the Celsius scale.
On Saturday, the maximum temperature was recorded at 44.7 degrees, which rose by 0.8 on Sunday, forcing the people to stay home throughout the day.
Doctors have advised people to cover their heads before venturing out in such harsh weather conditions and increase their liquid intake to avoid sunstroke and dehydration.
Meanwhile, the local Met office has forecast a dry weather with chances of a duststorm for the next 24 hours in Multan and its suburbs.
On Sunday, the minimum temperature was recorded at 24 degrees Centigrade and humidity at 41 per cent in the morning and 8 per cent in the evening.
ANTI-HEPATITIS DRIVE: The second phase of the campaign against Hepatitis B, launched by the Alkhidmat Foundation, has been extended by two days.
Camps would be established at 10 different locations in the city on May 19 and 20, said Alkhidmat president Dr Kaleem Akbar Siddiqi at a meeting here on Sunday. A camp would also be established for journalists at the media centre of Multan Jamaat-i-Islami.—APP
