SIALKOT, May 18: As many as 14 posts of doctors have been lying vacant at the Pasrur Tehsil Headquarters Hospital since long.
The non-availability of doctors and para-medical staff is causing problems for the residents of the tehsil as they have to go either to Sialkot or Gujranwala for treatment.
In a statement issued here on Sunday, Pasrur Union Council Nazim Tariq Javaid urged the Punjab health department authorities to take note of the situation.
INDIAN FIRING: The Indian forces continued firing on villages in Sialkot working boundary’s Chhumb, Joriyan, Bajwat, Chaprar, Jammu, Saamba, Akhnoor, Zafarwal and Shakargarh-Narowal sectors on Sunday.
According to official sources, Pakistani forces responded, causing heavy defensive loss to the Indian forces.
PHONE EXCHANGE: National Assembly Speaker Chaudhry Amir Husain inaugurated an upgraded telephone exchange at Daallowali village on Sunday.
The 2,000-line exchange has been upgraded at a cost of Rs15 million. Earlier, the exchange had 1,000 lines.
Sheeni Union Council Nazim Younas Ali Shah was also present on the occasion.
SEWERAGE SYSTEM: The Punjab government has allocated Rs20 million special grant for the improvement of Pasrur city’s sewerage system.
This was stated by MNA Zahid Hamid while talking to newsmen here on Sunday. He said that work on the project would be started soon.
He said that the district government would also construct farm-to-market roads and repair roads in Pasrur city.
SUI GAS: Work on a project for the provision of Sui gas to Narowal city would start soon, MNA Begum Riffat Javaid Kahilun said on Sunday.
In a statement issued here, she said that Rs220 million would be spent on the project.
She said that Chief Minister Chaudhry Pervaiz Elahi has approved a scheme for the construction of road along the railway track from Narowal to Lahore.
COMPENSATION CHEQUE: MPA Muhammad Rizwan on Sunday handed over a Rs560,000 compensation cheque to the widow of landlord Mubashar Husain at Takhtpur village in Pasrur tehsil.
Dacoits had kidnapped and shot dead Mubashar on Jan 6 this year.
MNA Zahid Hamid, Gujranwala Range DIG Malik Muhammad Iqbal and Sialkot DPO Amjad Javaid Saleemi were also present.
Chief Minister Pervaiz Elahi had during his visit to Takhtpur village on March 28 announced compensation for the family of the landlord.
