QUETTA, May 17: Coalition partners of the Balochistan government and opposition parties will be taken into confidence on key issues, including the National Finance Commission Award, Public Sector Development Projects and the upcoming budget for 2003,04, Balochistan chief minister Jam Mir Mohammad Yousuf said on Friday.

He was speaking at a meeting of the coalition parliamentary group’s here.

Urging the coalition partners of the provincial government to serve the masses irrespective of their political affiliations, the chief minister said that the opposition members of the provincial assembly would be taken into confidence on every important issue.

The chief minister said that the government would strive to tackle key issues in consultation with the members of the provincial assembly.

Expressing the need for a unified stand on matters affecting provincial rights, he said that standing committees in the assembly would soon be formed, adding that the opposition parties in the provincial assembly would also get just representation.

Urging the legislators to run the provincial members in a democratic manner, the chief minister said that efforts should be made for achieving consensus on legislative matters.

Parliamentary groups in the coalition government include the Pakistan Muslim League-Q, Muttahida Majlis-i-Amal and the BNDP.—Correspondent
