KARACHI, May 17: A former policeman was shot dead by unidentified motorcyclists in Lyari late on Friday night.

Police said Asghar alias Madam was sitting near a union council office on Ahmed Shah Bokhari Road when two men on a motorbike shot at him and sped away. Asghar, father of five, suffered multiple bullet wounds and died on the spot.

Police claimed that Asghar was allegedly involved in an attempt to kill Abdul Karim and also had links with drug pushers in the area. The body was shifted to Civil Hospital and later handed over to his family for burial.

In another incident, an elderly man was shot dead in his home in railway colony in Mithadar police limits on Saturday morning.

Police said some unidentified men entered the house of Mohammad Ashraf, 65, and killed him. He lived alone at his home. The police failed to find any clue to the suspects and the motive behind the killing.
