SIALKOT, May 16: A 14-year-old boy fell unconscious on being told by the medical officer at the Government Sardar Begum Memorial (DHQ) Hospital after his ultrasound examination that he had an “ovary” in his belly.
Sources said Mohammad Bilal of Pasrur had gone to the hospital for an ultra-sound examination as he was feeling pain in his belly. Medical Officer Dr Hafiz Khalid conducted his ultra-sound examination and allegedly reported that the boy had the female reproductive organ in his belly.
When the boy’s relatives objected to the report, Sialkot Assistant District Health Officer Dr Mohammad Arshad Bajwa again conducted the boy’s ultra-sound examination and termed the medical officer’s report wrong, saying that the boy had no ovary.
The EDO for health has launched a probe into the matter.
