GUJRANWALA, May 16: The electrification process in villages could not be started on account of the government’s failure to release funds to the legislators concerned despite the fact that the Gujranwala Electric Power Company has completed the survey.

This was stated by Gepco chief executive Brig Saifullah Khalid while speaking at a meeting in the regional office here on Friday.

The meeting was attended by MNAs, MPAs, district Nazims and senators of Gujranwala, Sialkot, Narowal, Gujrat, Mandi Bahauddin and Hafizabad, Human Resource and Administration director Col Ghazanfer Ali, SEs, XENs and other senior officers.

The Gepco chief pointed out that a number of agricultural connections had been doubled this year. He elaborated that six-month detection bill would be received from power thieves who used airconditioners. However, three-month detection bill would be received from general power thieves.

He suggested the legislators and district Nazims to get released their funds for starting village electrification process in their respective areas.

ASSURANCE: Punjab Governor Khalid Maqbool assured the business community that all hurdles in the way of constructing an export centre would be removed.
