KARACHI: Millions celebrate Eid-i-Milad

KARACHI, May 16: Jashn-i-Eid Miladun Nabi (PBUH) was celebrated with religious fervour and enthusiasm throughout the metropolis where millions of people took part in innumerable congregations and processions.

The main procession was taken out from Kharadar and culminated at Kinzul Iman Mosque at Guru Mandir roundabout. A large number of religious groups, including Dawat-i-Islami and Sunni Tehrik, led the faithful who recited Quranic verses, Hamd and Naat across the route of the procession.

Smaller processions were also taken out from other parts of the city. Different religious leaders and Imams of mosques led the processions participants of which were greeted with flowers showered over them at various places along the route. Drinks and other edibles were also offered to the faithful intermittently by the organizers and other religious groups.

Participants of some processions from Liaquatabad, F. B. Area and other parts of the city converged at Faizan-i-Madina, near old Subzimandi, before proceeding to their destination, Kinzul Iman Mosque.

Thousands of processionists were carrying green flags inscribed with Kalama-i-Tayyaba. A large number of vehicles decorated with colourful buntings, flags and lights and carrying faithful were a salient feature of the event. Camps were also set up along the processions’ routes elsewhere in the city.

Addressing the faithful, ulema at different points urged the Ummah to forge unity in their ranks, become pious and practising Muslims, and preach the principles of Islam to others. They also called for unity and brotherhood to counter the nefarious designs of hostile forces.

Special prayers were held for the country’s solidarity, integrity and prosperity.

Various religious and social organizations held seminars and conferences on the occasion to highlight the life of Hazrat Muhammad (peace be upon him).

A ceremony was held at Mehfil-i-Murtaza and a Seerat Conference was organized by the Khadimeen-i-Millat Pakistan. The Firdous Ittehad held Qurankhawani and set up a Sabeel at Rizvia Chowk.

Mahafil-i-Naat were held at many of the mosques in the city.

Stringent security measures were taken throughout the city to meet any eventuality on the occasion.—PPI/APP
