Academies face problems

By Our Sports Correspondent

LAHORE, May 14: Some coaches are reluctant to take charge at out-station Regional Cricket  Academies.

Academies at seven different cities and a clinic at Quetta are scheduled to start from Monday.

Ali Zia, who stood first in the coaching test and recently coached Bangladesh was posted to Hyderabad Regional Academy for which he refused.  After Zia’s refusal, Azhar Khan and Mohsin Kamal were asked to take charge of Hyderabad and the two also rejected the offer.

Mohsin, later was appointed for the Lahore Region with Mansoor Rana.

Aaqib Javed has been posted at Multan Regional Academy.

To resolve the issue, PCB chairman Lt Gen  Tauqir Zia will hold a meeting on Thursday.

PCB is offering Rs 25,000 to each coach. In case of out-station posting a coach will get an additional Rs 25,000.

The coaches, being sent to out-stations are complaining  that the amount was very nominal, as they would have to bear their own expenses in case they wish to return on off days. PCB will bear the outgoing and incoming travelling expenses once only.
