PESHAWAR, May 14: Women division of the Outreach Directorate, Agricultural University has planned to arrange training workshops for the social workers, rural women working in different governmental and non-governmental organizations.

The workshops will be held in a series to educate women in floriculture, food preservation, honey-bee keeping and kitchen gardening, says a press release issued here on Wednesday. The objective of arranging workshops would be helpful for the rural women in their household activities, the press release said.

The first training workshop was held last week in Peshawar division and about 30 women from government and non-government organizations attended it. Women participants from Sarhad Rural Support Programme, Technical Education and Manpower, Social Welfare Department, Vocational Institutions attended the workshop.

Director of Outreach Directorate, Dr Zar Quresh, speaking at the concluding day said that the role of women in agriculture sector was as important  as men and women should educate themselves  in agriculture.

Mr Ghulam Idris, senior director  of  Pakistan  Oilseed Development Board, who was the chief guest, said these workshops would impart knowledge about  income generating activities to the women of the rural areas.

The second training workshop of the series will be held at Abbottabad on ‘ Food Nutrition and Preservation’ on May 28.
