KARACHI: Passenger dies as minibuses collide

KARACHI, May 14: Reckless driving claimed life of a man near Shafiq More in F. B. Industrial Area police limits on Thursday.

Police said two speeding minibuses of route W-11 (JF-0754 and JE-8090) were trying to overtake each other. They collided with each other near Shafiq More and hit an electricity pole. As a result, a passenger travelling in one of the minibuses suffered serious head injuries and died on the spot.

Four other persons with minor injuries were taken to Abbasi Shaheed Hospital and discharged after first aid.

Drivers of both the minibuses fled from the scene. Police have impounded their vehicles.

HOLDUPS: Four armed robberies were committed in different areas of the metropolis on Wednesday, police said.

Bandits broke into Manzoor Hussein’s home in Orangi Extension, held the occupants hostage at gunpoint, collected cash, jewellery and valuables and fled.

Robbers forced their entry into Liaquat Ali’s home in Al-Falah, made the family as hostage at gunpoint, amassed cash, jewellery and valuables and escaped with the loot.

Muggers smashed into the house of Peter Inayat in Zaman Town, Korangi, held the family as hostage at gunpoint, collected cash, jewellery and valuables and fled.

Bandits entered the shop of Tanveer Hussain in Jamshed Quarters and robbed him of cash and other belongings at gunpoint.
