KARACHI, May 14: Justice Zawwar Hussain Jaffery of the Sindh High Court ordered a town police officer and a SHO on Wednesday to appear in person on May 19 to explain why they declined to register a first information report by a woman about the kidnapping of her young son.
Advocate Rizwan H. Nadeem submitted that the petitioner, Amtul Hafeez, lodged a complaint in writing about her son Farrukh Jan Sarhandi’s kidnapping, which occurred in March well within her view.
A police party of the Khwaja Ajmer Nagri PS raided her house in Gulzar-i-Hijri and took Farrukh away. She was an eyewitness to the incident, yet the SHO was not prepared to register the case. Her request to the Gadap Town police officer also fell on deaf ears.
A sub-inspector appeared in response to an earlier court notice on Wednesday and tried to explain the police conduct. The judge ordered the TPO and the SHO to appear in person to clarify the position.
