Power shutdown criticized

By Our Correspondent

SUKKUR, May 14: The members of Sukkur Chamber of Commerce and Industry on Wednesday met with HESCO chief Brig (Retd) Tariq Arshad and informed him about the frequent power breakdown in Site and old Sukkur. They also expressed concern over imposition of detection bills.

The SCCI members informed the HESCO chief that power breakdown for many hours became daily routine and such undeclared load-shedding was badly affecting the industrial activities in the area.

The delegation urged the HESCO chief to restore supply of power to the street lights of Site. They also sought separation of some area of small industries from new Pind feeder, inclusion of some industrial units with Ali Wahan feeder, installation of transformer already sanctioned for Station Road and resolution of dispute over fast meters after proper checking.

The HESCO chief informed the delegation that interruption in power supply was due to introduction of new feeders where conductor wires were being changed and installation of meters on electric poles to prevent theft of power. He assured the delegate that there would be no shutdown in future as mostly the assignment was completed.
