Wheat purchase

Published May 14, 2003

KASUR, May 13: About 26,600 metric tons of wheat has so far been purchased by the government against a target of 550,000 metric tons for the district.

The food department has set up seven wheat procurement centres in the district — in Kasur, Khudian, Usman Wala, Chunian, Pattoki, Habibabad and Phoolnagar.

Officials of the food department told this reporter that the procurement drive was slow due to the private purchaser who was offering Rs310 for 40kg of wheat against the government’s Rs300.
