Six ‘rapists’ booked

BAHAWALPUR, May 13: Uch Sharif police claimed on Tuesday to have registered a case against six people, who allegedly raped a woman and her mother-in-law five days ago.

The police said one of the accused, Qasim, was recognized by the victim. The accused locked the male members of the family in a room, raped the two women and escaped with valuables.

The victims had contacted the police higher-ups when a local SHO refused to register the case.

GRANT: The Higher Education Commission of Pakistan has sanctioned Rs70 million for the Islamia University’s information technology department, Vice-Chancellor Prof Dr Munir Akhtar said while inaugurating night classes on Tuesday.

KILLED: A man was stoned to death by his son-in-law over a property dispute at Mauza Jhalian near Ahmadpur East on Tuesday.
