Five of family, driver die in accident
SHEIKHUPURA, May 13: Five members of a family and a driver were killed while 18 others injured in a road accident near Kot Abdul Maalik, about 30 kilometres from here on the Lahore-Sheikhupura Road on Tuesday morning.
Information gleaned by this correspondent revealed that Muhammad Hanif, resident of Model Town, Lahore, had come to Sheikhupura with family for the engagement of his daughter. On their way back home, their wagon (LPT-4996) rammed into a roadside tree near Missan Kalar.
Hanif and his sons Adnan and Afzaal, Kanwal and Qamar and driver Allah Ditta died on the spot. Those injured include Faraz, Junaid, Rukhsana Kausar and Sughran. They were admitted to the Mayo Hospital in critical condition.
Factory Area police are investigating.
INJURED: A lady health visitor was shot and injured by robbers at Ladhayki Mallian village early on Tuesday.
Reports said three armed men stormed into Rehana Kausar’s house and started collecting valuables. No sooner had the inmates raised alarm, the robbers opened fire, injuring the doctor. She was hospitalized.
Saddar police are investigating.
