Dist council seeks jobs for local people: Gas exploring company

KHAIRPUR, May 13: The Khairpur District Council, by adopting two resolutions here on Tuesday, demanded immediate transfer of the DCO and urged the OMV gas exploring company to recruit local people.
While speaking on the first resolution, Amjad Ali Shah said that the DCO was not releasing funds for development projects of the Citizen’s Community Board.
Dr Ahmed Ali Kabur said that Rs20 million of Zakat fund was lying with the DCO but the amount was not being released for Zakat distribution. He apprehended that if the amount was not distributed by June, it would lapse.
Over 20 members of the Awam Dost Panel (ADP), backed by the People’s Party Parliamentarians, severely criticized the DCO.
The council also adopted another resolution, presented by Khadim Hussain Mirani, which urged the OMV gas company, working in Nara taluka, to appoint local people.
The council also approved yet another resolution, urging the district government to get a portion of the district council office vacated, which had been occupied by Mashooq Ali Shah Jilani, leader of the Khairpur Dost Panel (KDP) supported by the Pakistan Muslim League-F.
The members of ADP and KDP exchanged hot words over the issue which led to a staging of a walkout and a sit-in outside the district council by the latter group.
SIT-IN: Meanwhile, the members of Faiz Ganj taluka council, led by Taluka Naib Nazim, Nazeer Faqeer Heesbani, staged a sit-in for three hours outside the district council.
They were demanding allocation of development funds for the schemes of the taluka council.
