ABBOTTABAD, May 12: Abbottabad city has been badly hit by the pollen allergy and the number of asthma cases have increased 10 times as compared to normal days, said a doctor in the government hospital on Sunday.

He said “white wool” in the air is causing great problem for the people, causing throat and lungs infections and also increasing cases of cough. The most badly affected areas are Murree Road, Supply and Mansehra roads where entire area is covered with thick layer of snow-type wool.

Last year, the district council had approved a resolution for the cutting of poplar trees in the city area but it could not be implemented for unknown reasons.

MPA Mushtaq Ghani, taking a serious notice of the slackness on the part of the Forest Department, has asked the Conservator of Forest, Hazara division, to cut all these trees in a week.

Mr Ghani has also asked the Environment Department to take up the matter with agencies concerned.
