ISLAMABAD, May 12: The federal government on Monday constituted a six-member advisory council to recommend measures for economic revival and expansion of country’s industrial sector.
A notification to this effect will be issued on Tuesday by the cabinet division. The ministry of industries and production will be the focal point for the meetings of the advisory council that comprises the private sector members only.
The council led by Deewan Yousaf Farooq, comprises Ahson Mukhtar Zubairi, Murtaza Mandiwala, Razzaq Bengali, Farhat Ali and Sohail Altaf.
The first meeting of the advisory council, to be held on May 16, will be presided over by Minister for Industries and Production Liaquat Ali Khan Jatoi. The meeting would finalize terms of reference (TOR) of the council and issue related guidelines.
The council is being given two tasks: First, to prepare short term proposals that could be included in the forthcoming budget 2003- 04, and recommend some long-term measures spanning a period of three to five years for economic revival in the post-quota trade regime.
