By Our Staff Correspondent
QUETTA, May 11: The Iranian border security forces killed two Pakistanis near Taftan, some 650 km west of here, official sources said on Sunday.
“Yes, two Pakistanis were killed inside Iran on Saturday late evening,” a senior official of the Taftan administration confirmed to this correspondent when contacted by telephone.
Sources said that the Iranian security guards opened fire on both the Pakistanis when they were crossing into Pakistani area at Zero point. One of them died on the spot while the other was rushed to Saindak hospital where he also succumbed to his injuries.
Both the Pakistanis received multiple bullet injuries, hospital sources said.
The Iranian border authorities claimed that both were smugglers and had crossed into Iran illegally without having required legal documents, sources said.
“They were carrying smuggling goods when Iranian border security guards opened fire,” sources said.
The deceased were identified as Wazir Mohammad who belonged to Quetta and Sardar Mohammad a resident of Chaghai. Their bodies were handed over to their relatives on Sunday.
