LAHORE, May 11: Mohammad Nadeem, national hockey captain, did not report to the coach for appearing in the two-day trials scheduled on Monday and Tuesday.
The camp has been set up here to select an 18-member squad for the two tournaments from May 29 to June 8 in Australia.
Nadeem, Sohail Abbas and Waseem Ahmad have gone abroad without informing the Pakistan Hockey Federation (PHF) to play in Germany two days before the training camp which started here on April 29.
According to PHF secretary, Brig Musarrat Ullah Khan Nadeem was to come back on Sunday.
Coach Shahnaz Sheikh said he was not aware about the whereabouts of Nadeem. He said he was in Rawalpindi where he attended funeral of team manager, Col Shahid Jaffery (retd) who died of cardiac arrest on Saturday.
Shahnaz said he would inform the PHF if Nadeem reported. He said 46 probables were available for the trials.
PHF had called up 52 probables for the camp. Barring, Nadeem, Sohail and Waseem, Aamir Saleem is also playing in league in England and has not join the camp.
Sumair and Asim Chohan had been ruled out for the selection due to fitness problems. Ali Raza, who had been operated for his nose injury is now fit for the trials.
