Rangers CC bag trophy

KARACHI, May 11: Ranger Cricket Club won the inaugural Saadat Ali Bhaijan memorial cricket tournament after defeating Nazimabad Gymkhana in the final by four wickets at KDA Ground here on Saturday.

The highlights of the match being a splendid all-round performance by Rangers CC’s Shiraz Ishaq.

Batting first, Nazimabad Gymkhana made 191 in 35 overs with Tariq Mahmood (52) and Hasan Raza (50) being the leading run-getters.

Shiraz Ishaq claimed four for 42. He was ably supported by Irfan Kazmi (three for 34) and Shujauddin (two for 34).

Rangers CC reeled off the required runs in only 32 overs for the loss of six wickets, thanks largely to Shiraz Ishaq’s whirlwind unbeaten knock of 81 that was studded with five sixes and as many fours.

RANGERS CC 194-6 in 32 overs (Shiraz Ishaq 81 not out, Jawwad Ali 21, Asif Akhtar 20, Islamuddin 19 not out, Matin 19; Nasim Shaikh 2-15, Mansoor 2-16).
