Five fall prey to accidents

GUJRANWALA, May 11: Five people were killed and 24 others injured in separate road accidents in and around the city on Sunday.

Elderly Bashiran Bibi of Ghumanwala was on her way home when she was knocked down by a speeding bus. She died while being taken to hospital.

Some 24 passengers were injured when a Sheikhupura-bound bus rammed into a roadside tree while saving a passer-by near Tetley village. The injured were removed to Naushera Virkan and Kamoki hospitals in critical condition.

Aslam of Dogranwala was hit and killed by a wagon while crossing the Alipur Chattha Road.

Two cyclists, Afzal and Mubarik Ali, of Philoki Qila Dedar Singh were crushed under the wheels of a truck. Boota of Ahmadnagar was run over by a coaster.

MURDER: A man killed his former brother-in-law for divorcing his sister in Naushera Virkan here on Sunday.

Farman Ali was working in his fields when Zulfikar attacked him with an axe. Farman sustained critical injuries and died instantly. Police have registered a case against the accused and are investigating.

DIE IN HOSPITAL: Two cousins, Qaiser and Naveed, who had sustained burn injuries due to an electric shock a few days ago in Samanabad died at the Mayo Hospital, Lahore, on Sunday.
