Competitive card for Lahore races
LAHORE, May 10: A lengthy card of nine events, looking competitive, has been drawn up for the Lahore Gymkhana Meeting to be held on Sunday.
Seven races will be contested over 1000m while two will be run over 1200m.
In the Chaman Plate, a class I, II and III combined handicap race which features the card, four contenders seems to be on chance. They are: chestnut colt Royal Falcon, bay filly Miracle and another bay filly Fair Play besides bay colt Muqaddar. All are proven good sprinters and equally well-placed in the weight- scales.
Miracle (Yasoob Again-Sway) ran a good third behind Laser Lass and Dizzy Height in the Attock Oil Cup run over 1600 metres on April 27 last. Royal Falcon was placed fifth in the same race in which Fair Play finished among also ran.
All the three serious contenders have shown fine performance during the recently concluded Lahore Winter Meetings, Miracle registering four wins and Royal Falcon and Fair Play three victories each.
There are a dozen runners in the eighth and supporting event. The chance ones are: Dare To Dream, Key Guy Princess, Prime Panther and Canwara.
Chestnut filly Key Guy Princess, who is the progeny of Key Guy out-of-Bloody Mary and bay horse Prime Panther are the consistent performers.
Chestnut filly Red Rock, who was defeated by Canwara in her previous outing on Sunday last should make amends by going all out in the Sibi Plate class V division I. Her close rivals should be Flame, Morning Bird and Green Hill.
The sixth race, Sibi Plate class V division II. Most of whom have not yet won even for once. And those who have won a race or two are on the chance list. They are Kargil Tiger, Eastern Bird and White Line, should finish in the same order.
Grey colt Speed Gun owned by S. M. Naeem looks a cut above in class vis-s-vis his 15 rivals in the fifth race. This shapely colt has won two races in-a-row and will be going to make it a hat-trick of victories.
Sun Of Gold, Aechoo and Royal Harban should fight for lesser remunerative berths.
The fourth race has 16 runners but they are inconsistent too.
Gold Ribbon and All At Sea and Imagine Iff are the chance contenders in the third race. They winner should be from them. On form and Handicap, which are the essentials of assessing the capabilities of the runners the first two named should decide about the winner.
The first race will be held at 1pm.
