LANDI KOTAL, May 10: Shinwari tribesmen have resented establishment of a checkpoint at China only 50 meters from Parangsum on the main Peshawar-Torkhum highway by armed Zakhakhel tribesmen.
Armed Zakhakhel youth were collecting road charges from vehicles owned by Shinwaris, saying their trucks and pick-ups carrying various goods to Afghanistan were being charged by Shinwaris at Torkhum.
While Shinwaris argued that they only charge truck Adda fees from every vehicle entering Pakistan.
Shinwari elders have also accused the local political administration for their failure to safeguard the Peshawar- Torkhum highway as this was third time in three months that Zakhakhels have either blocked the road or established posts.
The administration, they alleged wants to pit the two strong tribes against each other to take control of their resources.
