Australia going up, cricket going down

Sydney, May 9: Australia are scaling new heights in Test and limited-overs cricket at the cost of the game internationally, according to Greg Chappell.

“There are people within cricket who are concerned, very concerned, about the state of the game worldwide.

It’s part of the International Cricket Council’s charter to grow the game and protect the game worldwide.

“I think they’re very worried about where things are headed,” the former Australian skipper was quoted as saying by The Sydney Morning Herald.

“You can’t play the game in a vacuum. Australian cricket can’t run its business in a vacuum, and this must be of concern because it’s going to affect the business in the long run.

“Cricket has a problem. It can’t afford to have any of the top nations down for long - and to have two of them, England and the West Indies, down for 10 years or more is a very unhealthy state of affairs,” he added.—PPI
