Big turnout for academy trials

RAWALPINDI, May 9: Nearly 1000 aspiring youngsters from seven cities turned up at the Rawalpindi Stadium for trials being organised by Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) for selecting players for its regional academy.

About 150 players from the lot that came from Mianwali, Attock, Sargodha, Azad Kashmir, Chakwal, Rawalpindi and Islamabad were selected in the first phase.

The trials were watched by chief selector Aamir Sohail and Farrukh Zaman, both of whom were assisted by coordinators Sabih Azhar, Masood Anwar and Khateeb Rizwan. On Saturday 24 players would finally be selected.
