VEHARI, May 9: The government is unlikely to meet the wheat procurement target, as the growers in the district are facing shortfall in the produce.
Dawn learnt on Friday that the average per acre yield in the current harvesting season had been decreased by 15 to 30 per cent.
Some growers, while talking to this correspondent, expressed fear that they would not be able to clear their loans advanced by banks due to less production this year.
UPLIFT PROJECTS: The district development committee has approved 38 development projects, including power supply to various localities, to be completed at a cost of Rs21 million.
Electricity will be provided to chaks 371/EB, 179/EB, 190/EB, 479/EB, Basti-Karam Khan, Bash Mughal, Karimwah, Mauza Bahhan and Mauza Jassal.
