Doctor kidnapped

MANSEHRA, May 9: A senior medical officer of the district headquarters teaching hospital Mansehra, Dr Binyamin, has been kidnapped and his captors have demanded Rs4 million for his release, it is learnt on Friday.

Sources quoted Mohammad Amin, a brother of Dr Binyamin, as having reported to the city police on May 6 that the doctor had left with some health officials in an official vehicle on May 5 to attend the funeral of a relative, but he did not return.

Those who accompanied Dr Binyamin said that after the funeral they had dropped him near the general bus stand.

Dr Binyamin’s family said they had received a telephone call from him in which he informed that he was in the custody of kidnappers who were demanding Rs4 million in ransom for his release.—Correspondent
