QUETTA, May 9: A large area of Ziarat and Pishin districts plunged into darkness as Khanozai grid station caught fire on Friday morning.

The fire broke out at around 4.30am causing power suspension to six feeders supplying electricity to various areas of the two districts. Three employees of Wapda received burn injuries.

A spokesman of Quetta Electricity Supply Company (QESCO), confirming the fire, said late evening that two transformers burnt down completely which affected power supply.

“The fire broke out due to technical reasons,” the spokesmen said. Fire brigade and relief teams were dispatched from Quetta and it took several hours to control it.
