Armitage, Rocca hold talks with lawmakers

ISLAMABAD, May 9: US Deputy Secretary of State Richard Armitage and his Assistant Secretary for Asia Christina Rocca met Pakistan lawmakers at a dinner hosted by the US Ambassador, Ms Nancy Powell, at her residence on Thursday.

On the occasion, the visiting US officials sought views of the parliamentarians on various issues that included the Government- Opposition standoff on the Legal Framework Order (LFO), the dramatic thaw in India-Pakistan relations and the possible resolution of the Kashmir dispute.

PPPP representatives who attended the dinner drew attention of the Mr Armitage towards a resolution passed in the day by the NWFP Assembly seeking return of Ms Benazir Bhutto and Nawaz Sharif to Pakistan.

The lawmakers who attended the dinner were: Amin Fahim, Shah Mehmood Qureshi, Aitzez Ahsan, Senator Mushahid Hussain, Salim Saifullah, S.M Zafar, Raza Rabbani, Mohammad Ali Durrani and Sanaullah Baloch.
