By Our Reporter

KARACHI, May 9: Seven men and a seven-year-old girl were injured when two groups exchanged fire in Kalakot, Lyari, on Friday.

The town police officer of Lyari, Khurram Ali, told Dawn that apparently trouble began when some youths from street No 6 went to street No 10 and attacked residents of that area. When an elder of the area, Mohammed Azeem tried to intervene in the matter, attackers shot and wounded him and sped off on their motorcycle.

People from street No 10 went over to street No 6 for revenge. An exchange of fire took place between the two groups. Eight persons were injured in the exchange of fire. A seven-year-old girl, Habiba, was among the injured.

The TPO said the police arrested three suspects, Ghulam Mustafa, Fakir Mohammed and Aurangzeb, and recovered three pistols from their possession.
