WASHINGTON, May 8: President George W. Bush said on Thursday he would wait for an IAEA report on Iran before deciding how to deal with Tehran’s alleged attempt to make nuclear weapons.

Mr Bush said the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA), which is a UN’s nuclear watchdog, was publishing a report on Iran in June.

“We’ll wait and see what it says,” said Mr Bush when asked how he would deal with Iran’s nuclear programme.

Speaking at a joint press conference with the Amir of Qatar, President Bush said he had always expressed his concerns “that the Iranians may be developing a nuclear programme”.

“I have done so publicly, I have done so privately. As you may recall, I expressed those concerns to President Vladimir Putin, when I went to Russia,” he added.

Mr Bush said the United States must work with other states to stop the proliferation of weapons of mass destruction.
