PESHAWAR, May 8: All Pakistan Clerks Association (Apca) here on Thursday demanded of the NWFP government to give 100 per cent increase in salaries to public sector employees, abolish the Removal from Service (Special Powers) Ordinance 2000 and contract system in the province.

The association suggested to the government to announce incentives for employees in the next budget proportionate to the price hike, stop downsizing and rightsizing policy and adjust hundreds of thousands surplus pool employees in the NWFP.

The one-day pre-budget seminar passed a number of resolutions and demanded of the Muttahida Majlis-i-Amal government to fix Rs1,000 as medical allowance per month, pay Rs500 as conveyance allowance, restore bonus and markup on the cut of GP fund, pay utility allowances to all government employees as Balochistan government had already announced such incentives for employees in the province.

The one-day seminar, held at Nishter Hall, was attended by over 700 government employees and representatives of various employee associations from across the province and tribal areas.

The NWFP senior minister Sirajul Haq, Chairman Human Rights Commission of Pakistan Afrasiab Khattak, Apca central president Haji Fazl Mabood and the association provincial president Muhammad Aslam Khan addressed the seminar.

The resolution said that the provincial government should pay benevolent fund scholarship cheques, announce computer allowance for stenographers in the next budget, dispose off promotion cases, abolish property tax on government employees’ houses, allot a 10 marla plot for Apca office in Islamabad, fix special Haj quota for Apca, and abolish processional tax.
