SUKKUR, May 8: The anti-smuggling squad of Jacobabad recovered a huge quantity of smuggled goods from two trucks near Umrani Mor, Jacobabad, on Thursday.
Both the trucks were headed towards Karachi from Quetta.
The smuggled items included huge quantity of clothes and 3,270 cartons of soap.
However, nobody was arrested and the trucks were allowed to proceed towards Karachi.
MAN KILLS WIFE: A woman was shot dead by her husband in the Nazar Ali Gadani village on Thursday.
The woman’s mother, Sehat Khatoon, told police that her daughter had been killed over a dispute over land.
Police sources claimed that her husband killed her as she was having an affair.
Police registered a case under section 302 against Ahmed Ali Gadani. However, he had not been arrested till the filing of this report.
DACOIT KILLED: A dacoit, whose identity could not be ascertained till the filing of this report, was killed in an encounter between villagers and dacoits in the Sadiq Lakhan village, near Ghotki, on Thursday.
The dacoits barged into the houses of Yaqoob, Kaloo and Sahib Lakhan and stole nine cattle heads.
The villagers started chasing the dacoits. Soon an exchange of fire took place between the two as a result of which a dacoit was killed. The remaining dacoits fled immediately leaving the cattle behind.
TWO INJURED: Two people were injured when they offered resistance to three armed motorcycle snatchers in Thul on Wednesday.
The robbers injured the journalist, Sarmad Kandrani, and another man, Gul Hassan Kandrani, and fled with their motorcycle.
The injured men identified the culprits as Shamoo Buriro, Khadim Buriro and Talib Buriro.
They demanded of the DIG, Sukkur range, to order an investigation against the officials of the Thul police who, they said, did not arrest the accused due to political pressure.
