KARACHI: WB mission assured of continuity of reforms


KARACHI, May 8: Governor Sindh Dr Ishratul Ibad on Thursday assured the review mission of the World Bank that the reforms programme initiated by previous governments would continue and there was no chance of any hurdles in that regard.

Talking to the mission, which was led by the task manager of the Sindh Economic Reforms, Ahmed Hasan, at the Governor’s House, the governor said that Sindh would continue playing the leading role in the programme, and he was taking personal interest in implementation of the programme in letter and spirit.

He said the continuation of the reforms programme was being ensured in all sectors including the civil services and the financial sector.

The government was fully committed in that regard and the provincial leadership and administration were working to achieve the objectives.

Earlier, Mr Ahmed Hasan informed that the progress made by Sindh in the reforms programme was appreciated all over the world, and it had been acknowledged by international meetings in Argentina, Brazil, India, etc. He appreciated the governor’s approach to the programme.

Sindh Chief Secretary, K. B. Rind, said that the monitoring and follow-up of the programme at every level continued and meetings were regularly convened in that regard.—PPI
