KARACHI: Illegal structure demolished

By Our Staff Reporter

KARACHI, May 8: The KBCA’s demolition squad on Thursday demolished a house, which was being built in a back alley of PECHS Block 2 and from where pipelines, sewerage lines and gas lines, had been passing.

Taking notice of a news-item published in Dawn’s Thursday issue, the chief controller of buildings, Brig (Retd) A S Nasir, sent the KBCA demolition squad to demolish the illegal house and later visited the site to ensure that no cosmetic demolition was carried out.

During his visit to the site, he also ordered removal of encroachments from a nearby footpath. When the demolition squad started removing encroachments from the footpath, a person rushed towards Brig Nasir and after introducing him as an Army official requested him not to remove the walls of his house from the pavement, but the CCOB did not pay any heed to his request, saying that all are equal before the law.

People residing in rows Nos 10 and 27, PECHS Block 2, had urged the authorities concerned to immediately take an action against the house which was being constructed in their back alley and as result of which not only the back alley had been closed but their right of privacy was being usurped.

The residents of the locality have thanked the KBCA chief for taking a prompt action.
