NEW DELHI, May 7: The Indian government on Wednesday was assessing a range of measures offered by Pakistan to improve bilateral ties, as official sources labelled the olive branch offered by Islamabad as “completely inadequate”.

The Indian parliament readied for a fully-fledged debate on the offers made by Pakistan on Tuesday. Indian Foreign Minister Yashwant Sinha described the developments as a “serious issue”.

“It is a serious issue. It is a matter of India-Pakistan relations and parliament ... will debate it tomorrow (Thursday),” Mr Sinha said.

The ruling Bharatiya Janata Party echoed the government’s view.—AFP
