LAHORE, May 7: As many as 34 employees of the Pakistan International Airlines (PIA) have filed a suit in the court of New York against an alleged violation of the Retirement Income Security Act 1974 by the PIA.
The employees alleged in the suit filed through their attorneys McLaughlin & Stern LLP that they were participants in an employee benefit plan governed by a 1974 act which provided for payment of monetary benefits at the time of retirement, resignation, retrenchment or death of PIA employees working abroad.
However, the PIA allegedly violated the provisions of this plan in Sept 2002, when it revoked these benefits without any justification.
They sought restoration of all benefits.
