Dubai channel to cover Pakistan domestic cricket

LAHORE, May 6: Dubai-based TV channel, Ten Sports has shown willingness for televising Pakistan domestic cricket and a contract will soon be finalised with Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB).

“ It is a new idea for us and we are working on it and hopefully we will be signing a deal with PCB soon,” said Zahid Noorani, Director Ten Sports, here Tuesday.

Noorani said, the idea behind the coverage of domestic matches is to highlight Pakistan cricket and to earn revenue.

“It is not an easy assignment and we are carefully looking in its details before striking the same,” he said.

Noorani dispelled the impression that holding of the next Sharjah Cup in October is uncertain and said the event will go ahead but at an altered date.

“CBFS have re-scheduled the Sharjah cup and it would now be held in December as Pakistan team will be busy in October-November to host the South Africa,” he maintained.

Answering another question, he said, the dates of the Morocco Cup has not yet been finalised but it is likely the competition will be held in August.

“We have to see the availability of the teams and then finalise a date and we will be coming up with a final date in a short time”, he said.

Noorani said CBFS would welcome any move from Abu Dhabi cricket authorities to help staging a joint tournament.—APP
