GUJRANWALA, May 6: The National Highway and Motorway Police will arrange lectures on traffic laws for army officers and crew.

A department spokesman told newsmen on Tuesday that SSP Shariq Jamal had been assigned arrangements of the lectures.

In the first phase, army officers and crew of Sialkot Cantonment would be delivered lecture on Wednesday (today) at Sialkot Garrison at 9am.

SSP Shariq Jamal, ASP headquarters Ahmad Yar Chauhan, Inspector Muhammad Aleem and sub-inspectors Rafaqat Husain Gillani, Tahir Rashid, Ghulam Hassan Shah, Muhammad Qasim and Asif Naeem would deliver lectures.

In the second and third phase, lectures would be delivered to army officers and crew in Gujranwala and Kharian cantonments, respectively.

Meanwhile, the SSP claimed that incidents of robberies on the GT Road had been reduced ever since the motorway police took control. He said the motorway police had recently busted a three-member gang of robbers near Muridkey.

UPLIFT PROJECTS: The city tehsil council approved various uplift projects and provision of medicines for the poor patients at the District Headquarters Hospital here on Tuesday.

At a meeting, the participants said construction of roads and other development projects were the priorities of the council. The officials approved Rs80,000 for the DHQ hospital for buying medicines for the poor patients.

City Nazim Babu Javed Ahmad stressed the need to eliminate obscenity from cinemas and stage plays. He directed the anti-encroachment squad to remove all posters and sign boards from the GT Road.
