HYDERABAD: SU teachers to get scholarships

HYDERABAD, May 6: The faculty members of the University of Sindh will be awarded scholarships for post-doctoral studies in different disciplines abroad.

This was decided at a meeting of the Higher Training and Scholarship Committee of the university on Tuesday.

The meeting said applications would be invited from the faculty members within two weeks.

Vice-Chancellor Mazharul Haq Siddiqui, who presided over the meeting, said the Higher Education Commission had approved the PC-I, in which provision of five post-doctoral and doctoral scholarships was proposed, sent by the university and released Rs5 million in the first instalment.

The meeting discussed the criteria for awarding the scholarships.

It also awarded scholarships to different university teachers for higher studies under the Faculty Development Programme and extended the abroad study period of many faculty members.

It decided that incentives would be given to university employees and teachers of model schools, affiliated with the university, for M.Phil and PhD research programmes.

DEGREE: Parveen Munshi, assistant professor, faculty of education, University of Sindh, has been awarded PhD degree by the Hamdard University, Karachi.

STB: The first meeting of the new Board of Governors of the Sindh Textbook Board (STB) was held here on Monday.

Mushtaq Ahmad Qureshi presided over the meeting.
