KARACHI: Water dept asked to ensure regular supply

KARACHI, May 6: Sindh Minister for Local Government, Mohammad Hussain Khan, has directed the Karachi Water and Sewerage Board (KWSB) to take immediate steps to provide clean drinking water to the people in the city.

The meeting was informed that the KWSB had got no funds under the Khushal Pakistan Programme, which hampered its development.

It was stated the city government had approved a water supply scheme of Rs300 million under the KPP phase four, and a sum of Rs150 million was approved for sewerage lines. However, only road carpeting was being carried out and the water problem was deteriorating with the passage of time.

The minister also directed that emergency centres be set up in different areas of the city so that people could lodge their complaints.—APP
