KARACHI, May 5: Judge Feroz Mahmood Bhatti of the anti-terrorism court No 2 adjourned on Monday the hearing of a case against Asif Zaheer and Rizawanullah alias Bashir for their alleged involvement in the bomb blast that took place outside Sheraton Hotel on May 8 last year.

The judge, who is conducting the trial in the Central Jail, Karachi, recorded the statements of three witnesses, including the SHO of the Anti-car Lifting Cell, and fixed the matter for Wednesday.

The ACLC SHO, Irfan Zaman Khan, had investigated the matter relating to the purchase of the vehicle used in the bomb blast. The other witnesses, Khanzada, who was injured in bomb blast, and SI Amanullah also recorded their statements and were cross-examined by defence counsel.

According to the prosecution, Asif Zaheer and Rizwanullah, who were allegedly trained in a camp of the Harkatul Jihad Islami in Afghanistan, planted the bomb in the vehicle used in the bomb blast in which 11 Frenchmen and three Pakistanis were killed. — PPI
